Lid Styles for Rectangular Tins
Rectangular tins use four main lid styles:
-
Slide lid
Runs through channels on the long sides and suits flat, compact products. Leave clearance between raised artwork and the sliding edge.
-
Hinged lid
Stays attached to the base and suits kits, mints, and products opened repeatedly. See the hinged tin options.
-
Lift-off lid
Gives an uninterrupted top panel for gift and confectionery packs.
-
Window lid
Adds a clear viewing panel on select structures, with size and position confirmed against the body and lid together.
None of these accept a threaded closure. Where a screw neck is required, an aluminum screw-lid jar is the right shape, and screw-top closures cover that mechanism directly.
Stock Sizes & Capacity Range
Capacity is calculated from the outer dimensions before wall allowance; usable internal volume is confirmed on the item drawing. Aluminum is available on select shallow-drawn models, with material confirmed per model rather than assumed across the range.
Below this range, 1 oz metal tins and 2 oz metal tins cover small-format needs; above it, extra large tin containers handle bulk sets.
For a shallow, wide layout instead of a boxy one, flat options run 60 ml and 130 ml low-profile formats. DOLYPACK’s full aluminum and tinplate line spans 5 ml to 6,000 ml overall.

Materials & Finishes
Tinplate is the default for hinges, slide channels, and formed seams; aluminum applies to select shallow-drawn shapes only. Matte, glossy, frosted, and metallic finishes work across both materials.
CMYK or Pantone printing, laser marking, or embossing can be added once the dieline is set. Keep artwork clear of hinges, channels, and window cut-outs. Closure comparisons across shapes, including tin containers with lids, are useful when a rectangular structure is not the final decision yet.

Custom Development & Wholesale Ordering
Quoting reviews the tin, decoration, artwork, tooling, and sample route together, and MOQ and production timing follow from that review rather than a fixed number. A sample is standard practice before committing to a full order. For sourcing volume tins outside the rectangular range, wholesale sourcing options are worth comparing.
