Metal Candle Lids

A candle metal lid keeps dust and debris out of the wax while giving the jar a finished, retail-ready top. DOLYPACK manufactures custom aluminum and tinplate lids matched to your jar drawing, closure style, and branding needs.

Lid Styles We Manufacture

Lid styles are selected by closure mechanism, seal strength, and how the candle will be handled:

  • Twist-top lids

Twist-top lids use a lug closure that turns and locks onto the jar neck, giving a tool-free removal that hobby and retail buyers expect from a screw-style finish.

  • Threaded (continuous-thread) lids

Threaded (continuous-thread) lids screw down along matching threads for a tighter, transit-safe seal — the closure to specify when a candle with metal lid needs to survive freight and handling without the lid working loose.

  • Flat / slip lids

Flat / slip lids sit flush across the jar mouth for the stacked, minimalist look most retail candle lines compete on. They read as a finished shelf item and stack cleanly in cartons.

  • Click-lid / press-on lids

Click-lid / press-on lids snap onto the jar rim without threads, using the same click-lid construction built across DOLYPACK’s aluminum tin lines. They give a tactile, one-motion close for brands that want a premium feel without a twist action.

Each style is built to a client’s chosen mechanism rather than sold as one fixed part number — the manufacturing conversation happens before tooling, not after.

Specifications: Diameters, Neck Finish & Gauge

Spec Range / Notes
Lid diameter Confirmed against your jar drawing; aluminum closures across the line run Ø17.5 mm–89 mm
Neck / thread finish Twist-top and continuous-thread necks matched to common candle industry thread designations (e.g., 70/400-style), confirmed against your jar spec
Metal gauge Selected per lid style and decoration — a heavier gauge holds deeper embossing than a light one
Tolerance Confirmed per specific lid and jar model, not published as a fixed general spec
Design Options

Materials & Finish Options

  • Materials

Lids are available in aluminum or tinplate. Aluminum is lighter and supports anodizing, while tinplate offers a deeper glossy or lacquered finish at a lower unit cost.

  • Finish options

Matte, glossy, frosted, metallic, anodized for aluminum, and lacquered coatings are available. Finishes are matched to the brand’s existing jar rather than offered as loose stock colors.

Custom

Custom Branding: Embossing, Debossing & Printing

  • Embossing & debossing

A stock lid shape can carry a logo or pattern without a full custom mold. Matched dies press the detail into the metal, while depth depends on the metal gauge and body curvature.

  • Printing

Label or screen printing adds color and text to the lid.

  • Artwork & tooling

Bold shapes reproduce more cleanly than fine line detail. Supply vector files in AI, EPS, or vector PDF format before tooling is quoted. Tooling cost follows the same factors as other custom embossed tins.

Fitment: Matching Your Lid to Your Jar

There's no universal lid diameter — fitment is confirmed against the client's container drawing so the closure seats correctly on the specific jar in production. Lids are commonly matched to jars already in a line, including 16 oz candle jars, 8 oz candle jars, and 4 oz candle jars.

FAQ

What is the point of a candle lid?
It keeps dust, fragrance loss, and handling debris out of the wax while the candle sits on a shelf or ships to a customer, and it gives the jar a finished, retail-ready top.
How is lid fitment confirmed for my jars?
Diameter and thread type are checked against your jar’s container drawing before production, since there’s no single standard lid size that fits every candle jar on the market.
What is a candle topper?
“Topper” is the term some buyers use interchangeably with “lid” — a cover that sits on the jar opening for a finished look and dust protection between pours and purchase.
Sourcing Metal Lids at Wholesale

DOLYPACK’s in-house tooling team develops the molds and dies used for lid production, built on more than 10 years in metal packaging manufacturing.

The process starts with a sample and an artwork/tooling review against the jar drawing. MOQ, sampling, and tooling setup are confirmed only after that review because they shift with the lid style, metal gauge, and decoration chosen.

A printed threaded lid runs different tooling and setup from a plain flat lid. Candle jar sourcing follows the same drawing-review process, and these metal lids are quoted alongside the aluminum candle jars they are built to fit. Send a container drawing to request a quote for a specific lid style and finish.
