Aluminum Cream Jars

An aluminum cream jar has to do two jobs at once: keep a scoopable formula usable and give the brand a surface worth decorating. DOLYPACK produces both screw-lid and snap-top aluminum jars for hand cream, face cream, eye cream, and body butter, with tooling and finishing handled in-house.

Aluminum Jars Built for Hand, Face & Body Cream Formulas

Aluminum blocks light through the container wall, weighs less than glass in the same capacity, and takes anodizing, printing, or embossing well. That makes it a practical choice for a hand cream tin or face cream pack that also needs shelf presence.

The trade-off is that a dropped or crushed jar can dent, so wall gauge and packing need to match how rough the supply chain will be.

Softer balm-style formulas made for facial hair use different sizing — see beard cream jars.

Screw Lid vs. Snap Lid — Which Fits Your Cream Formula

This is the decision that determines whether a customer can actually get the product out of the jar.

Screw-lid

Screw-lid jars seal tighter and resist loosening in transit, which suits thinner creams, lotions, and any formula sensitive to air exposure between uses. Aluminum screw caps are made across a Ø17.5 mm–89 mm range, so the cap diameter can be matched to the jar mouth at the quotation stage rather than assumed from a catalog listing.

VS

Snap-lid

Snap or click-lid jars open with one motion and give faster access — better for thick body butter or balm where a consumer needs to dig in with a finger or small spatula rather than pour. A wider mouth relative to jar height also matters here: a narrow opening on a thick formula just means product stuck against the neck.

Wall gauge, aluminum alloy, and interior liner — a PP disc, EPE foam pad, or no liner at all — are set per tool and lid type, not standardized across the catalog. Confirm these against the formula's fill temperature and viscosity before requesting a sample.

Aluminum Cream Jar Capacities & Specifications

Cream-jar tooling at DOLYPACK covers roughly 5 ml to 250 ml — the practical range for hand cream, face cream, eye cream, and small body-butter packs. The capacities below are the ones most often requested in this format; diameter, height, and gauge are tied to each tool and confirmed once capacity and lid are chosen.

Aluminum screw caps run Ø17.5–89 mm depending on jar mouth size; a plain jar and a debossed jar of the same capacity may still tool to slightly different dimensions.

Finishes & Decoration for Cosmetic-Grade Jars

Cream jars are usually the most visible SKU on a bathroom shelf, so decoration capability matters as much as capacity. DOLYPACK’s aluminum finishing includes:

  • Surface finishes

Anodizing, matte, glossy, frosted surfaces, lacquering, and spot varnish.

  • Print methods

Screen printing, laser marking, and full-color or label printing.

  • Raised or recessed logos

See the embossed aluminum jar guide; bold shapes reproduce far more reliably than fine detail on a curved jar wall.

Where Aluminum Cream Jars Are Used

The format is used most often for hand cream, face cream, night cream, eye cream, and body butter — anywhere a formula is applied by finger rather than poured or pumped. See our cosmetic packaging applications for related use cases.

Request a Sample or Custom Quote

To get a jar, lid, and finish combination quoted, send DOLYPACK the target capacity, preferred closure (screw or snap), formula texture, and any artwork or logo concept.

MOQ, tooling lead time, and sample turnaround aren't fixed across jar sizes. They scale with decoration complexity: a plain anodized jar tools up faster than a debossed logo with spot varnish. DOLYPACK confirms the exact requirements after reviewing the artwork and container drawing.

There's no blanket certification (FDA, ISO, food-grade) covering every cream jar. Test the interior surface or liner against the target formula's pH and active ingredients before approving production.
